    Why this book exists

You want to do it properly.
    But who do you ask?

The panditji is booked, or expensive — or three time zones away.

Your grandmother knew every step by heart. Nobody ever wrote it down.

You search online and get ten different answers — half of them frightening.

So the lamp stays unlit. Not from lack of faith — from not knowing how to begin.

The knowledge was never lost. It simply lived in people.
This book hands it back to you.

    What's inside

    Eight complete pujas.
    Nothing left out.

Each one written so a complete beginner can perform it, start to finish, without anyone's help.

    Start here

    Puja Fundamentals

The grammar of every puja — aachaman, lighting the lamp, sankalp, the offerings, the closing prayer. Learn once, use always.

    Chapter One

    Nitya Puja

Your daily worship — plus an honest five-minute version for the mornings when life is rushing.

    Chapter Two

    Satyanarayan Katha

The full vrat and the complete five-part katha, retold to read aloud to your family. Plus the sheera prasad recipe.

    Chapter Three

    Lakshmi Puja

Fridays, Sharad Purnima — and the great Diwali puja, with its own dedicated section.

    Chapter Four

    Ganesh Sthapana & Visarjan

Welcoming Bappa home with pran pratishtha — and an eco-friendly visarjan you can do in a bucket at home.

    Chapter Five

    Griha Pravesh

Blessing a new home: the threshold, the Mangal Kalash, Vastu Shanti, and the milk boiling over for abundance.

    Chapter Six

    Navagraha Shanti

Harmony with the nine grahas — all nine beej mantras, the mandal placement, the navadhanya. Never fear. Only balance.

    Chapter Seven

    Aarti Sangrah

Ten beloved aartis — each with Devanagari, pronunciation, and the meaning of every single verse.

    Why this one

    What makes it different

    Never fear-based

Not once are you told a puja is "ruined," or that misfortune follows a small mistake. That is not our tradition. The Divine looks at your heart.

    Written for families abroad

No lotus? No mango leaves? No durva? Every hard-to-find item has a respectful substitute, so no family anywhere is shut out.

It never goes out of date

No dates are printed. Instead you're taught the panchang method — find the right muhurat yourself, in your own city, any year.

    Researched, not guessed

Every mantra, ritual and katha was verified against traditional sources — the dhyana, the pran pratishtha, the beej mantras, the sawa prasad proportion.

    Beautifully illustrated

Over 40 original watercolour illustrations — altars, offerings, kalash, the visarjan, the katha itself. A book you'll want to keep open.

    Honest about its limits

For a wedding havan or a personalised muhurat, we tell you plainly to call a pandit. This is for the pujas a household does itself.

    Nothing hidden

Here is the actual index. Every chapter, every aarti, every page number — so you know precisely what you're getting before you buy.

    Before you ask

    Questions, answered

Is the book in Hindi or English?

The guidance is in warm, simple English — so anyone can follow it. But every mantra, shloka and aarti is printed in Devanagari (हिन्दी लिपि) to read from, plus simple English letters for pronunciation, plus its meaning. You get all three, every time.

Do I need to know Sanskrit?

Not at all. Nothing is assumed. There's a full pronunciation guide at the back, and the tradition itself gives us a prayer asking forgiveness for imperfect pronunciation — it's printed in the book. Sincerity carries the mantra where the tongue cannot.

    Is this a physical book?

No — it's a beautifully designed PDF ebook, delivered instantly after purchase. Read it on your phone at the mandir, on a tablet, or print it if you prefer paper. No shipping, no waiting.

Will it match how my family does things?

We've used the most widely-followed, mainstream versions, verified against traditional sources. Where regional traditions genuinely differ — a trunk direction, an aarti line, a mandal placement — the book says so honestly, rather than pretending there's only one right way.

Will it tell me I'm doing it wrong?

Never. There is no fear-mongering anywhere in these 170 pages. Mistakes are corrected gently, in a section called "Common Mistakes (and Gentle Corrections)." You will never be told that misfortune awaits you.

I live abroad and can't get the samagri.

This book was written with you in mind. Every chapter has a green box for families outside India, and a substitute for every hard-to-find item — a rose for a lotus, akshat for flowers, any sweet for a modak. Devotion travels. The shopping list shouldn't stop you.

    दीप जलाओ

    Light the lamp tonight.

You do not need to be an expert.
You do not need perfect Sanskrit.
You need only a lamp, a little time,
    and the willingness to begin.
